I did like the different sections throughout the resort for families, and adults only and next-door at Breathless for adults and couples. (No one ever told us – and we asked out travel agent – we want a nice beach and teen activities). But when the beach was clean it was nice. I was later told that at the end of June and beginning of July seaweed infestation on the beach is a common problem. There were several poor guys using wheel barrels to take away the seaweed - but it was sooo bad that they needed to bring in backhoes and scrapped the beach for days. As in other posts they do really try and clean it up. The beach is nice, however, we had so much seaweed that we were unable to swim in the ocean most of the week. If you book this place get the preferred – we stayed at a swim up room. If you have teens – this is NOT the place for you. I really like Apple and that’s whom we booked this through. We had a great time – However, let me provide an overview so that you can bring your expectations down to reality. If you already booked this place relax – it is very nice. We would go back to Dreams Onyx in a heartbeat – if only for another swim in the pool! (It really was that good!) The staff were so kind, and really helped us make the best of a bad situation, and it was great to be able to end our holiday with such a fabulous, luxurious hotel. It really was the highlight of our stay! The amazing semi-private pool And despite that there was plenty of space for the kids to splash about and swim. (I reckon there were around 5 or 6 rooms sharing the area, and then another 5 or 6 sharing an adjoining area over a little walkway, however we were the only family in our end for about 90% of the time!) There was even a bar and friendly bartender right opposite our room too – perfect for sipping something cool right in the pool! There was lots of seating right in the water, which was fab for chilling out and cooling off. The walkways between buildings – thank goodness for shade!īut the huge, huge, huuuuuge hit with our kids – and us adults! – was the incredible pool, right off our terrace! (You all know our kids are pool nuts at the best of times!!!) Our room had a lovely outside terrace/seating area – complete with hot tub! – which led directly to a super modern, semi-private pool area. The food in the buffet restaurant was lovely, (the kids were impressed with soft-serve ice cream and popcorn!), and the seating area was rather unusual, but very fun – while covered under a lovely thatched roof, it was open to the elements at the sides, which gave you a refreshing breeze and pleasant views. The rooms were just gorgeous – modern, clean and airy, and absolutely enormous! The beds were huge and very comfy – brilliant after a day sat fruitlessly in an airport! A sliding door separated the sinks and spacious dressing area/wardrobes from the rest of the room, which was great for getting everyone up and ready quickly, and the bathroom had a smart, wet-room style shower, which we all loved.Īs pale and pasty Brits, we were super thankful for the shaded walkways between buildings, which helped keep us out of the worst of the midday sun when walking around the property. If you follow us on Instagram, you probably heard about the multiple cancelled flights home from our recent Dominican Republic holiday! Not a good way to end a relaxing vacation!!! However, that end was completely salvaged by the absolutely amazing hotel we were sent to – Dreams Onyx Punta Cana! We were only there for slightly less than 24 hours, but it was so amazing, we just had to tell you all about it!
