The new quarters - which have been minted in Philadelphia and Denver - show Washington on one side and Angelou on the other. The quarter has for the last 90 years shown the nation's first president, George Washington, on one side and an eagle on the other. "Each time we redesign our currency, we have the chance to say something about our country what we value, and how we've progressed as a society," she said in a statement. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said she was "proud that these coins celebrate the contributions of some of America's most remarkable women." The program directs the US Mint to issue quarters each year between 20 featuring five different female trailblazers who have contributed to the country. Maya Angelou, featured on the reverse of this first coin in the series, used words to inspire and uplift." "Each 2022 quarter is designed to reflect the breadth and depth of accomplishments being celebrated throughout this historic coin program. "It is my honor to present our nation's first circulating coins dedicated to celebrating American women and their contributions to American history," said Mint Deputy Director Ventris Gibson. Check out our release notes for more details. The updated app has a few improvements this time out, but the biggest is a newly redesigned outlining tool that now includes support for editing. Popular mind mapping tool MindNode has a big new update out today, with version 2021.1 now available for download. Now, with the arrival of Shortcuts on macOS, you can enjoy the same, great automations from your iOS devices, on your Mac. We've had support for shortcuts on iOS for a while now. Going forward, our release numbers will be comprised of the current year, followed by the release number. It's only been a week since our last update, but with the release of macOS Monterey, we've made sure that MindNode on Mac is up to date. This is why we switched to a year-based version number. We noticed over the course of this year that our previous release versioning scheme no longer fits our new development cycle: We no longer want to ship major updates instead, we want to focus on regular, incremental improvements. With the release of MindNode 7 in 2020, we also introduced our new cross-platform (iOS & Mac) subscription called MindNode Plus. Move, tag, connect, detach, and reconnect as often as you like. Your document reflects your ever-changing understanding of an idea as you add and adjust thoughts. MindNode is the right tool to get your ideas out of your head the way you want to. Which then allowed us to continue the count with version numbers 6 (2019) and 7. Use the mind map to visually rearrange nodes and add new thoughts. So we decided to skip version numbers 3 and 4 for Mac and went straight to version number 5 in 2017. Meanwhile, our iOS app MindNode for iOS went through all the version numbers from 1 to 4.Īs we were thinking about names for the next major upgrade version of MindNode, we really wanted it to be very similar for iOS and macOS, because the apps are very similar as well and the different version numbers always caused confusion. In 2015 we updated MindNode to a new version number and name MindNode 2 for Mac. Use the mind map to visually rearrange nodes and add new thoughts. After that, we only offered an app called MindNode Pro, version number 1, but there wasn't an alternative not-Pro version and that caused some confusion. They had version number 1.Ģ012 we stopped offering MindNode Lite on the App Store and had a free Demo version on our Website. From 2008 we had an app called MindNode Pro and an app called MindNode Lite, which was a limited free version. Names have histories, and sometimes they are not really logical. For example, I just turned on “Intelligently split blocks of changed text based on matched line pairs”, and now I can finally merge changes line by line rather than in multi-line chunks. I just downloaded Araxis Merge and have a feeling that I’ll end up paying for this after the trial period.Īraxis Merge not only gets the basics right (pasting text from clipboard, in-app editing) but also offers a set of preferences that can be adjusted to make diffing work better for ChatGPT-edited English text-as opposed to code. Right now, I'm extremely pleased with Araxis Merge, though the price tag is indeed pretty hefty. Until relatively recently, DeltaWalker had been my hands-on, no-questions-asked, accept-no-substitutes choice, but the developer (who is awesome) had some issues porting it to Catalina, and it lost a little shine in the process (the diffing and merging are still great, but its integration with the MacOS ecosystem is still a little awkward at present). but unfortunately not my go-to for MacOS development anymore. which I suppose it is.įourth: DeltaWalker is awesome, not very expensive, extremely capable, extremely underrated. It works great, but it feels like a Windows port. Third: BeyondCompare is ugly as relatively expensive, extremely capable and highly rated. Second: Araxis Merge is nice looking, very expensive, extremely capable and extremely underrated. First: Kaleidoscope is very pretty, very expensive, very limited and very overrated. Now we look back and we think how crazy it is to employ someone to drive milk from house to house when you can just buy it yourself and keep it in the fridge for weeks. When refrigerators took off, the milkman job was basically destroyed. This was before the advent of refrigeration. In the old days, we had milk men drive and deliver milk bottles from house to house. And if they do replace, you have to evaluate what it is that you really do of value. We used to do math with things like an abacus or on paper. are you going to give them a 80% discount?" or you decided to share a folder of pics over the Internet instead of walking the photos over to the client and you're expected to give the client a discount for deciding not to walk to the client. that's like saying, "you used lightroom to do hundreds of pics instead of doing one at a time in photoshop. With AI one could have the distinctive voices of James Earl Jones or Dolly Parton do the speaking without hiring the celebrities themselves or celebrity impersonators.ĭid you tell your client you used AI to meet their deadline and how much time it saved? Instead of hiring a person to spend hours and hours in the studio reading a book into a microphone, AI can create a verbal version in a matter of minutes not only in English but in different languages too. The hardest being hit are those who do audio books. There was a story done a couple days ago about how voice professionals are seeing their workload being reduced because clients are using AI to create virtual voices. For example: a new version of "why should I pay you for an hour's work to do a mug shot when you did it five minutes" which has been an argument for decades.ĪI is already making an impact in cost reductions, and not for the better. With all that time saved, are you giving the client a 75-85% DISCOUNT for the time you didn't spend, or is the client being charged the same amount as if it was a manual edit? This is an important question because AI is going to create a whole new billing scenario in the industry. So instead of spending 2-3 hours doing the work manually, you did it in 30 minutes via AI. We also needed to copy and paste each line from the script into text layers within After Effects, which was going to take a while. The text couldn’t read like subtitles, but it also couldn’t be overly animated over such a long video. Not ideal when we’re crazy busy and had an early call time to make matters worse. This wouldn’t be a problem, but somebody was going to need to stay after hours to animate everything. They wanted to kill the voiceover and replace it with animated text. Unfortunately, we received a last-minute change from the client at 6 pm yesterday. The end product was nearly three minutes long. We created a script and painstakingly cast a voiceover actor. I was part of a team making a Mother’s Day video for a well-known consumer brand. GPT-4 helped me create a custom script to meet a tight deadline. I’ve only used it for experiments until last night. To counteract my unnecessary weight loss, I added an additional protein to my meals. That’s why I decided to return to my current low carbohydrate diet with a few modifications. I felt the healthiest when I included nonstarchy vegetables in my diet. However, I had days where I didn’t feel well and found it difficult to get through the day on the carnivore diet. The takeawayĭespite the challenges I faced, my blood glucose levels remained within range. To get through the day, I had to take an additional dose of vitamin B12. I had trouble staying awake during the day and couldn’t go through a day without taking a nap. Taking care of my home and raising three children became extremely difficult for me. I began experiencing unusual fatigue and low energy levels throughout the day. People usually experience this shortly after starting a ketogenic diet. In addition, I experienced “keto flu” symptoms characterized by dizziness, fatigue, and constipation. I had symptoms like bloating, headaches, nausea, and acne - typical of eating a low carbohydrate, high protein diet. I couldn’t eat anything made from any type of flour, including almond flour, which I usually use several times a week to make bread and batter foods. Vegetables that I typically eat, such as squash, leafy vegetables, peppers, and onions, were no longer available to me. While I felt full after eating a carnivore meal, the diet proved to be very restrictive. Protein helped me feel full for several hours, and my caloric intake helped me maintain my weight.īut despite all of this, the challenges I encountered outweighed the benefits. Īd revenue keeps our community free for you My progressĪfter following the carnivore diet for almost 2 weeks, I noticed a few benefits. In fact, higher dietary fiber intake has been associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.Īdditionally, the carnivore diet may have negative impacts on cardiovascular and renal health.Īccording to one 2019 study, higher consumption of animal protein compared with plant protein and higher meat intake led to an increased risk of mortality, especially among people with type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease.Ī diet that is very high in saturated fats - such as the carnivore diet - can also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, per 2017 research. However, the carnivore diet may also pose some risks that could outweigh the benefits.ĭietary fiber is an essential part of a healthy diet, yet it is mainly found in fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Participants reported experiencing health benefits and high levels of satisfaction, along with few adverse effects. In 2020, researchers surveyed more than 2,000 adults who had been following a carnivore diet for 6 months or longer. People on keto diets typically lose weight due to lower insulin levels, a diuretic effect, and a decreased appetite, which may be beneficial for those with type 2 diabetes. However, it is sometimes called the keto carnivore diet due to its similarities to the ketogenic diet, which is also based on very low carb intake. There have been few clinical studies on the carnivore diet. Ad revenue keeps our community free for you Benefits and risks of the carnivore diet Maytag is also one of the brands that wears the coveted “Made in the USA” sticker. Some brands have more front-load washers on the market, and while Maytag does play in that space, it largely holds true to its roots (and its loyal fans) by maintaining its focus on the traditional top-load market. Now, more than a hundred years later, the Maytag brand name is most commonly associated with its washing machines. Maytag, was one of the first businesses to start producing and improving upon the wooden tub washing machines. Their history spans back to the late 19th/early 20th century, where Maytag, then run by F. Maytag (part of Whirlpool Corporation) is one of the oldest and best-recognized appliance brands in the U.S. What You Should Know About Maytag Washers (One perk of working at Reviewed is that there are plenty of laundry machines on premises!) Our main goal is to get the answer to one question: how easy is it to actually use this washing machine? This involves assessing the control panel, the door, the detergent dispenser, and any smart capabilities that are included.īy combining the performance data with our own observations, we can make solid recommendations for anyone looking for any type of washing machine at any price point. The best washers have solid stain removal abilities, do not damage your clothes, retain little water, and have short cycle times.īeyond these performance tests, we also assess the usability of each washing machine, based on our experience, both during testing and during more casual use. Cycle time - how long is each washing machine cycle?.Water retention - how much water does your washing machine spin out at the end of the cycle?.Wear and tear - during a given cycle, how hard is the mechanical action of the washing machine on your clothes?.Stain removal - on a strip of AHAM-approved stains (which includes cocoa, sweat, pig’s blood, red wine, and oil), how much of each stain can this washing machine remove?.We use a strip of AHAM-approved stains (which includes cocoa, sweat, pig’s blood, red wine, and oil) to see how much of each stain a washing machine can remove.Įvery washing machine that comes into Reviewed’s labs gets put through the same testing regime, which addresses both performance and user-friendliness. Read our review of the Maytag MVW6500MBK. The spin cycles also didn't remove as much water as the average top-loader, so your dryer will have to work harder. However, there were some downsides: The delicate cycle is rougher on clothes than we'd like to see, and was only slightly more gentle than a regular cycle. Additionally, the Quick Wash cycle can deliver clean laundry to you in just 31 minutes. The MVW6500MBK also has a built-in faucet to allow you to pre-treat stains right over the washing tub, which helps reduce water waste. In testing, it cleaned slightly above the average mark for a top-loader, and the Heavy and Delicates cycles did particularly well with stains. The overall cleaning capabilities of the washer were not disappointing. The machine's pole agitator includes a special filter that collects hair during a wash, though you then have to empty the filter manually. Known for its pet hair removing capabilities, the Maytag MVW6500MBK lived up to its claims during testing, where it adeptly tackled a dog blanket coated with hair from a Bernese Mountain Dog. A Raggedy Andy doll was created to accompany the sequel and as a striking complement to the popular Raggedy Ann doll. Andy wore a sailor suit and hat, had a triangle nose and the trademark red yarn hair. Two years later, in 1920 Gruelle wrote the sequel Raggedy Andy Stories where a new rag doll character debuted named Raggedy Andy, who was to be Ann’s brother. The Raggedy Ann doll was marketed along with the book and within months the book and doll were selling like hotcakes. In 1918, Gruelle had sold his first volume of Raggedy Ann Stories published by P. So “The Raggedy Man” and “Little Orphan Annie,” poem titles were morphed into “Raggedy Ann.” Gruelle then suggested Marcella name her rag doll Raggedy Ann. After thumbing through the pages, he found two poems that suited him and combined their titles to create a name for his daughter’s rag doll. Johnny then proceeded to walk over to his bookshelf, where he pulled down a book of poems by James Whitcomb Riley. “The doll had no face, so, it was her Dad, Johnny Gruelle, who put the famous black eyes, red triangle nose, and separated mouth on the original doll and Grandma made a new dress.” When Marcella showed her dad the faceless doll he drew a unique face on it. She was a rag doll who sported bright, red yarn hair and a triangle nose. The story goes, one afternoon Marcella had been rummaging around in the attic of her grandmother’s house when she spied an old storage chest, opened it and to her delight found a faceless rag doll. For those who are not familiar or who have forgotten, Raggedy Ann was the unusual character starring in a series of stories for young children that became a sensation. Many stories he began writing to entertain his young sickly daughter, Marcella. Johnny had originally created Raggedy Ann as an unlikely protagonist gracing the Johnny Gruelle (1880–1938) The seventh, being the head of the school board and a supporter of vaccination, declines to comment.” The Creation of the Raggedy Ann Doll Six consented it is the result of vaccine induced poisoning and call it malpractice. Ultimately, “Seven leading physicians are called upon to opine about the cause of her death. The Gruelle’s were convinced beyond any doubt that the vaccination was the culprit behind the death of their only child, even though school authorities and vaccination proponents insisted Marcella had died from a preexisting heart defect. Sadly, Marcella died a slow and agonizing death. While all this was going on at school, her parents knew nothing about it and had never ever given their consent for any vaccinations. Predictably Marcella’s health continued to decline to the point where she lost all muscle control, “becoming listless and lifeless like a rag doll.” Reports indicate that after the initial inoculation Marcella had, “… lost her appetite, and became feverish and fatigued.” Amazingly, more inoculations were given despite her negative reaction from the first jab. Not long after the creation of the much beloved Raggedy Ann, Gruelle’s only child and 13 year old daughter Marcella died a painful death after receiving a routine small pox vaccination at school, which was given without parental consent. |
